Bioproducts

$50 million in Bioproducts
This investment will develop and expand the State of Ohio's emerging bioproducts industry by leveraging the state's tremendous private, public, and academic assets. Ohio is a leader in the agricultural, polymer, chemicals, and advanced materials industries. By aligning these industrial sectors, the state is poised to be a world leader in a new market - products made from biobased materials. Facing increasing costs (and decreasing consistent supply) of petroleum, the time is right for Ohio to focus on our strengths in biobased materials to replace or improve upon traditional petroeum-based feedstocks. With our research expertise in this field, as well as our strong agriculture industry, this investment will solidify Ohio as a national leader in bioproducts.

Clean Ohio Fund

$400 Million in the
Clean Ohio Fund

Conservation and revitalization are essential to Ohio's future and the Clean Ohio Fund is our state's nationally-recognized model that invests in both. With the addition of $400 million to the Clean Ohio Fund, we will help meet the growing demand for brownfield redevelopment and farmland preservation, as well as support trails and green space projects. Brownfield funds for assessments, cleanup, and demolition are critical for returning neglected property to productive uses in our towns and cities, while the farmland investments preserve the lands of Ohio and our future in agriculture. In November 2008, this place-based initiative was strongly approved by Ohio voters with bipartisan support.
